SeeSaw is one of the most iconic coffee shops in Shanghai. The story began in 2012 with its founder from the city of Yiwu (in the neighbouring province of Zhejiang) and his first shop in the Yuyuan Road in Shanghai. The following story is a succession of openings and closures before defining its concept and finding its cruising rhythm:
Shops with a very well finished design, impeccable quality coffee beans, including a selection of Chinese single-origin beans from Yunnan, and many choices of extraction among which high-end espresso machines stand-out.

industrial inspired interior design

Their strong online presence on social networks, and their seasonal marketing campaigns combining original graphics and ephemeral products, inspired by “collections” spirit in the fashion industry, are part of the success of this shop.

Design of the shopping bags and the cups changes every time I visit

Obviously, the coffee here is impeccable. Even if I drink some several times a day, I do not consider myself a connoisseur, so I went for a Flat-White. I prefer it to Latte for its smaller (and more concentrated) format, its notes of hazelnut, born from the mixture of coffee and milk, and its creamy compact milk foam hat.

Chose your extraction

Coffee is obviously very good, but SeeSaw is much more than just “coffee in a cup”. Their success is inspired by Japanese and Australian coffee culture, which includes a strong identity for the brand: more than just a coffee shop, it’s a lifestyle that SeeSaw offers, and declines, by the way, into cool objects of all kinds: tote bag, mugs, glass, keyring,…
The brand image is well established and has contributed to a successful implementation, over the years, in the Shanghai coffee culture.

Today, SeeSaw is about twenty shops in 4 Chinese cities: Suzhou, Beijing, Shenzhen and of course Shanghai that saw it born. In a now very competitive market, the brand keeps its own identity and remains one of the most iconic coffee brands in Shanghai.
